joan Babirye, An 18-year-old With An Inspiring Spirit, Is Competing In The Super Soul Sisters Pageant For The Most Inspiring Story. Born Deaf, Joan's Early Life Was Met With Difficulty. When Her Family Realized She Couldn't Hear, They Sent Her To The Village, Fearing She Wouldn't Cope In The City. However, Joan Flourished Despite The Odds And Was Eventually Brought Back To Kampala. She Was Enrolled In School But Struggled Academically, Leading Her To Leave School.
determined To Pursue Her Passion, Joan Convinced Her Mother To Enroll Her In A Fashion School. With The Support Of Plan International Uganda, She Graduated Successfully, Having Found Her True Calling In Fashion Design. Joan Now Dreams Of Growing Her Fashion Business And Using Her Unique Perspective To Create Inclusive, Beautiful Designs.
through The Super Soul Sisters Pageant, Joan Hopes To Inspire Young Women With Disabilities To Follow Their Dreams And Break Barriers. Winning The Most Inspiring Story Would Be A Monumental Moment For Her, Giving Her The Platform And Resources To Expand Her Fashion Business And Continue Empowering Others In Her Community.
