Girl Earth Award: My Name Is Atim Caroline, 23 Years Old, From Gulu District, Currently Pursuing A Bachelor Of Commerce At Makerere University Business School. I Am Honoured To Be Nominated For The Girl Earth Award. Part Of My Childhood Was Spent In Palabek Refugee Settlement, Where Limited Resources, Infertile Soils, And Climate Change Contributed To Food Insecurity And Malnutrition, Particularly Among Women And School-going Children. Witnessing These Struggles Inspired Me To Focus On Sustainable Agriculture And Environmental Conservation. I Introduced School Gardens And Eco-clubs In Over 20 Schools, Including Uganda Youth Aid Primary School And Mbuya Parents School, Equipping Youth With Green Skills And Promoting Community Self-reliance. My Initiatives Combine Climate Action, Innovation, And Hope, Fostering Long-term Food Security And Environmental Awareness. Winning This Award Would Give My Community A Stronger Voice, Proving That Refugee-born Youth Can Lead Change. Even Being Nominated Is A Victory, Demonstrating That Transformation Is Possible From The Most Difficult Beginnings.
