Akello, an 18-year-old girl, is one of the contestants in the *Super Soul Sisters* competition, driven by a fierce determination to change her family's fate. Living in a small, overcrowded one-room house in a remote suburb of Kampala, she shares the space with her mother and five younger siblings. Life has not been easy for Akello. Her mother brews and sells the local beer, *Ajono*, which barely sustains them.
